Shi Taifeng Meets with BMO Financial Group

  Mr. Shi Taifeng, Governor of Jiangsu, met with a delegation of the BMO Financial Group headed by Vice-Chair Mr. David Jacobson in Nanjing on February 22.

  Mr. Shi noted, BMO enjoys a time-honored history and has scored great achievements. It is known for targeting at strategies, orienting towards the market, doing a comprehensive range of business and conducting safe operations. It participated into the economic development of China a very long time ago. At present, our province is at a critical stage of innovation-driven development and adjustment of economic structuring and economic upgrading. It is our urgent need to further bring the leading and supporting role of finance into play, and introduce advanced international governance philosophies and techniques to improve our financial structure and quality. To this end, we look forward to deepening cooperation with BMO. We hope the two sides will enhance interaction in commercial banks, the capital market, insurances and guarantee and assets management with financial innovation as the target. We also hope we will expand and deepen the bilateral cooperation with exchanges and training of personnel as the bridge. We welcome BMO’s direct investment or establishment of branches in our province. We encourage BMO to provide support for our quality financial enterprises to establish institutions overseas. We look forward to establishing a long-term, stable, mutual beneficial and win-win bilateral mechanism of financial cooperation in a gradual manner.

  Mr. Jacobson noted, BMO has exchanged views and explored possibilities with financial institutions of Jiangsu on cooperation of wealth management and assets management, and will expedite the process of cooperation. We are full of confidence in Jiangsu Province and its financial institutions. We believe the friendly cooperation will bring about mutual progress and win-win results for the two sides.

  Last October, the Department of Organization of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee led financial enterprises under the administration of the provincial government to go overseas for recruitment of high-end finance-related talents and cooperation of cross-border projects. During that period, they held consultations with large financial institutions like BMO. The BMO delegation paid back the visit and came to Nanjing to further implement the issues concerning cooperation. During their stay, the BMO delegation gave a lecture on finance via Jiangsu SOE Lecture Room, and held in-depth talks with such enterprises as the Bank of Jiangsu, Huatai Securities, Zking Property & Casualty Insurance, Jiangsu Rural Credit Union, Jiangsu Re-Guarantee Group, Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group, Jiangsu Soho Holdings Group, Govtor Capital, Zhongshan Company and Jiangsu Non-governmental Investment.
